You’re an entrepreneur, who is creating a heart based business, living your true purpose to provide a service that creates a transformation in your client’s life. But how do you stand out? What is different about you and your business?
Does your wardrobe showcase who you are, your message and what sets you apart from everybody else?

One of the reasons you chose to be an entrepreneur is for the freedom it gives to design your own lifestyle and to allow you to express your unique creative work. You believe this is your calling and being of service is your greatest joy.

So let me ask you this question, is your wardrobe in alignment with this? If no, let’s understand why.

Entrepreneur's ClosetYour clothes have energy that is either supporting you or draining you. Who you were in your previous career is not the same person as you are now. As an entrepreneur you are a leader, a mentor who is setting the stage to help transform your clients. You want to stand out and let potential clients know you are confident, loving, successful and that hiring you is the best decision for them.

How do you this? First, you need to let go of the old you. Go to your closet for the next 9 days (in feng shui that is a very auspicious number) and each day discard 3 articles of clothing that drain your energy and are not in alignment with who you are. Repeat this until you feel you’ve let go of the old you. Waking up to a closet full of clothes you don’t even like drains your energy and is not setting you up to be a successful entrepreneur!

In Feng Shui, I teach clients that their closet represents their sub-conscious mind. Your wardrobe closet is one of the essential closets in your home and it’s very important that is alignment with who you are now and where you are going.

Be mindful that going through the purging process can be difficult as you are releasing some of your fear and anxiety. Be okay with whatever comes up, have compassion for yourself and think about who you are becoming.

Once you have gotten rid of the clothes that no longer serve you there will be room for clothes that align with your role and mission.

Start to think about who are really are, your lifestyle and what you want to be as an entrepreneur. What clothes help you express this and make you feel as if you are who you desire to be?

Consider how much time you spend doing certain activities: Traveling, presenting, sitting, writing, networking, etc. This will help determine what kind of clothes you need, business suits or casual comfortable work clothes and what message they need to convey.

By shifting to a new perspective on your true style you begin to relate to a style that is more in alignment with who you are. Let me introduce you to the Fashion Feng Shui® essences. In Fashion Feng Shui, I work with clients to identify who they are with the 5 essences of Feng Shui: water, wood, fire, earth and metal. I go through a simple process of honing in on a client’s unique style and the essence of who they truly are.

Let me give you a quick rundown on The 5 elements – water, wood, fire, earth and metal – and how they can be translated as symbolic representations of our essence as individuals.

The water element represents someone who is independent, a free spirit, spiritual, and artistic. The water gal marches to the beat of her own drum. She sees herself as a unique individual with her own creative style. She values doing her own thing and having quiet time to herself. Therefore, she needs her own space and time to create, write, meditate or do yoga.
Water gals love vintage items, homemade artistic goods or artisan designs and products. She loves items that reflect her uniqueness. She appreciates things that have meaning and spiritual significance.

The Wood Pioneer essence is the go-getter, health-nut, athletic gal who loves a good competition and it’s not afraid to try new things. Her style is simple and moveable, she is the girl who is always on the go and doesn’t have time for clothes or décor that weighs her down. She spends her time, working out, debating, coaching or starting new projects.
The Fire Pleasure Seeker gal loves drama, having fun and being the center of attention. She is the one at the party dressed in the latest trend. She values fun over anything else. The Fire essence gal is the social butterfly always at the hottest events and has a friend where ever she goes. The fire gal loves to make a statement whether it is with her clothes, jewelry, or being up on the latest and greatest music or events.

The Earth essence gal is the peacemaker. She is the caring, helpful and sympathetic gal. She loves to nurture everyone but herself. She is reliable, supportive, nurturing and the one you call when you need to get the job done, or a shoulder to lean on. She is traditional, sentimental and most likely the one to host holiday dinners and bake that classic apple pie! Her style can be described as conservative, comfortable and classic.

The Metal Perfectionist gal, loves to be organized! She is extremely sensitive to her environment and clutter drives her mad. She prefers order in her life. She enjoys, high-end quality artwork, clothes, jewelry, homes and prefers quality over quantity. In fashion, she always dresses in a style that is classic and form fitting. She detests anything that lacks structure or high quality material. The Metal gal is the one that is coordinated from head to toe.
